It’s that time again! The Flower Fairy Oracle Card of the week is….Gratitude! Yippee!!! Actually, it was the card for last week, however, yours truly got extremely busy, extremely pissy, and extremely tired, and didn’t take the time to post the card of the week or blog. Day late and a dollar short was the name of the game last week–sigh. There was lots of good things happening–I had several readings, set up my cards at Local Roots (YEAH!!!!), and participated in the Harmonic Journeys Holistic Fair where I met a lot of very fun peeps! All the other stuff…I have an innate ability to pack 50 million things into a very short amount of time. I even amaze myself sometimes…however, last week with the addition of pms-ing, things got a little rough. And tired. I think that turning 40 thing also has diminished my energy. Which is why after 15 years of spending ten plus hours raking leaves every year, I finally broke down and bought a leaf blower. I didn’t realize that one needed a master’s degree in mechanical engineering to put together a simple leaf blower, but apparently I was mistaken. My “I am Woman, Hear Me Roar!” once completing the horrendous assembly process, was very short-lived when I realized the cord is less than a foot long, and now I need to purchase an extension cord to run the dang thing. The joys of home ownership! If you have been following my fall-cleaning expedition, the homestead is half-way sparkly clean, smelling fabulous, and looking even better. I even cleaned my storage space to make room for the boxes of delightful outcasts in preparation for a massive garage sale next spring. Or as one of my friends said, “you need to get a life”….or start a cleaning/organizing business-Ha!
I think it was probably smart for me to delay writing about gratitude last week, because I just looked at my top ten list of things I’m most grateful for…I think calling myself snarky and sarcastic might be an understatement when I wrote it. Eeek! Guess it happens to the best of us…which reminds me of the quote from Ram Dass, “If you think you’re enlightened, go spend a week with your family”. That cracks me up, because continually working on yourself and spiritually developing or not, there are those times when it would be so nice to be a two year old and have a temper tantrum. Instead, I drank chocolate milk and ordered two pairs of shoes. Really cute shoes–ones with ladybugs, and the other with butterflies. Tehehe–I can’t wait to wear them!
So my edited top ten list of things that I’m grateful for…disclaimer first. I love my friends and family and all that stuff that people normally say. This list is those things that happen fairly regularly (except for #9–those don’t happen enough!) that just make me sigh and feel blessed….
1. Having that extra pocket of time just when I need it.
2. A cold can of Pepsi.
3. Peppermint Essential Oil (I seriously could bathe in the stuff!)
4. My beloved Neti Pot (I don’t care what the nay-sayers have to say, I use mine faithfully!)
5. Finding the perfect item at the thrift store that I was looking for.
6. Clean sheets—Ahhhhhhh!
7. Texts from peeps when I’m thinking about them–love that!
8. A new romance novel from Nora Roberts.
9. Naps
And finally,
10. My cat choosing to use her litterbox…and not the rug…or the couch… or the tablecloth…(more stories to follow on that one!)
